About

steve w. berman

One Author. Powerful Stories. Uncompromising truth

Steve W. Berman is one of the nation’s most prominent plaintiffs’ attorneys, with a career defined by taking on powerful corporations and some of the most complex litigation in American history. Over the years, he has helped secure settlements valued at more than $340 billion, including landmark cases involving Big Tobacco, Volkswagen’s “Dieselgate” emissions scandal, and the NCAA name, image, and likeness litigation.

His work has taken him far beyond the traditional courtroom, from meeting clients in the Ecuadorian rainforest to deposing some of the world’s most influential corporate leaders. That experience has shaped the way he sees conflict, accountability, and the human stories behind major legal battles.

As an author, Steve brings that same perspective to fiction, writing stories grounded in the pressures, personalities, and moral choices that define high-stakes litigation. His writing reflects a career spent challenging powerful institutions while keeping the people affected by those institutions at the center of the story.

His newest novel, Poison in the System, introduces readers to attorney Sam Sharpstein and marks the latest chapter in Steve’s work as a legal thriller author.

Away from writing and the law, Steve is an avid cyclist, lifelong soccer player, coach, certified referee, devoted husband and father, and committed environmental steward. He lives in the Seattle area.
